Baby Smart is a?????

At almost 21 weeks pregnant I had an appointment on base, and sweet talked the doctor into giving me an ultrasound to see if we could see the sex of the baby. At first I was told no they wouldn't do a scan, and I would have to wait till my growth scan almost 3 weeks later to find out. Of course I had been so sure we would find out I had brought Brandon with me, and dressed up all cute, so when I was told no, I teared up...I didn't cry just came very close! Contrary to what my husband might say! Well in the end the doctor gave in and did a quick scan...and of course my baby couldn't make things easy, especially when I had begged our way into the ultrasound room! The legs were wide apart, so you would think, easy shot, but no the umbilical cord was right between the legs blocking the view. The doctor said if she had to guess, she would say girl, but she wasn't sure, and couldn't confirm yes penis, or no penis! So we told immediate family the maybe answer but were forced to wait for the official answer!

So as the day came closer we found out Brandon would be in the alarm room on the day of the scan, but he had asked off so they thought it would be no problem for him to be there. The a few days before the appointment he gets a call that there was a training scheduled for the same day...and time as the scan! Of course, of all the days and times they could have chose it had to be October 21st at 2pm! Grrr The NCO in-charge of the alarm room found out about the scan and him missing it, and decided to push Brandon through really fast so he could surprise me and be at the appointment. Of course life never goes as planned and there was a car accident on base, and the fire department got dispatched, so no such luck on Brandon being there! I had called a couple close friends to maybe go with me if he didn't make it, but 2 were sick and one had to work, so I just sucked it up and went by myself. Which wasn't a huge deal but I was a bit bummed that Brandon wouldn't get to see the higher resolution scan, and the official announcing of the gender. Well the radiology tech came to the waiting room and got me, when we got back to the room she stops ans says "Oh, are we still waiting on someone?'' I tell her no that my husband had to work, and she proceeds to tell me "well you could have brought a friend, or someone so you aren't alone" gee lady way to make me feel pathetic. I tried to get someone else but it just didn't work out!

Anywho, in preparation for my appointment I had drank some juice and ate a candy bar to get my baby all sugared up, so the baby would be moving! Boy did it work. Our kid was all over the place, every time the tech would put the Ultrasound wand thing (whatever it is called) on my stomach the baby would kick and move it! What was supposed to be at 30 minute appointment turned into an hour and 15 minutes! That's my baby! Well drum roll.....the answer to the big question is it a girl or a boy is?????

It's a GIRL!!!!!!! WOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

That's right we are going to have a daddy's girl on our hands and Brandon is in trouble, I am guessing it will take her all of 2 seconds to have him wrapped around her finger! The ultrasound was so much fun. It was great seeing our girl, and in such detail. I could see all 4 chambers of the heart, the different parts of the brain, all 10 fingers and toes (although they couldn't get a picture of one of her feet because she wouldn't cooperate!) and one point she was playing with her fingers, then she had her hand up on her face! It was just so cool. If I can ever get Brandon to show me how, I will scan the ultra sound pics onto the computer to share it everyone!

After the appointment I went straight to the fire station to tell Brandon the news. Of course he had been expecting he over 45 minutes earlier so he had called to see if everything was ok, and where the heck I was at! We are so excited about having a daughter...now we just have to decide on a name...!

Here are a few baby bump pics, more to come!
