So like I said before Scotland was our last pre-baby trip we would be making! I was so excited to see Scotland, to be honest I thought I wanted to go there over Ireland! Scotland had a tall order to fill if it were going to stand up to the great time we had in Ireland. Unfortunately the weather wasn't quite as amazing as we had enjoyed in Ireland. We got lucky in the sense that there was no rain, but it was FREEZING! Scotland was having one heck of a winter storm while we were there. It was so cold, and the wind was bitter, but that didn't keep us from enjoying our tip! Edinburgh is an amazing city! It was so unique, and cool. It had an almost a mid-evil feel to it, everything had a castleish look to it, if that makes any sense. We opted for train travel this time, instead of a plane like other trips we have made. Although it is cheaper to fly here, being pregnant flying sucks. I have never gotten sick flying till I got pregnant, now it makes me sooooo sick, and miserable to I begged my husband to please not make me fly at 30 weeks pregnant, so we took the train. Which was so worth it. It might have taken a lot longer to get where we were going, but we got to see the countryside and enjoy it in comfortable seats with plenty of room! I like the train is all I can say!
Our first day in Scotland we just walked around the city for a bit, and went out to dinner, but due to it getting dark by 330 here we weren't able to do much our first day. The second day we had a 12 hour bus tour planned out go to Loch Ness!
We woke had a nice breakfast at the hotel, and stared getting ready for our bus tour into the highlands...unfortunately halfway through breakfast I started getting a migraine. Now typically when I get one I pop one of my prescription pain killers, special made for migraines, but of course being pregnant my only option was to hit up the tylenol, which if you suffer from migraines you know does squat for the pain! Oh well I had 30 minutes before we had to meet the bus so I went upstairs laid down and prayed like crazy that it would miraculously get better! On the way to the bus stop it seemed like it wouldn't be an awful headache, and at least manageable, so we decided to go for it with the trip! Unfortunately I was wrong and got a second headache less than halfway through the trip, plus got sick to my stomach! All I can say is that is was a LONG 12 hours on that bus. Brandon was awesome and helped wherever he could, but in the end the only thing that helped was sleeping, so I ended up sleeping through half the trip! UGH what a disappointment when seeing the highlands for the first time, oh well Brandon was a great photographer for me and took lots of pictures :) Here are a few shots from the tour, and our final destination Loch Ness!

So the bus day was a bit of a bust for me, from being sick, and it was so stinking cold, but what
we did see of it made us realize how much we want to return there during the spring or summer to visit again, so we can see the highlands not covered in snow :)
Our 3rd and final day there, we had until 3pm to get to the train to head home, so we took advantage of the sunlight, and my feeling better, to see the city of Edinburgh. We walked the Royal Mile, and visited Edinburgh Castle and did a little shopping as well!
Here are some shots from our last day!!!

Our first view of the castle...

A couple shots from one of the upper walls of the castle, the best views of the city (in my opinion!)

Well that about wraps up our time in Scotland! It was a rough trip, but a great city, and beautiful countryside...I can't wait until we can return again, and this time with our little girl!
