Fire Academy

Over three years ago I received a text from, my then boyfriend saying "Dude I think I want to be a fireman!" At this point Brandon was in his senior year at Kansas State University getting his business degree (why he ever chose that I will never know). He knew that business just wasn't for him. So I encouraged him to look into the process. Over the next year he became fire science certified, and EMT certified...and we also got married. He finished EMT a couple weeks before the wedding. Immediately he started applying all over Kansas for fire fighting positions...and heck several positions outside of Kansas. This process continued for well over a year. Each time he got an interview, we would get our hopes up. Over half of the time he made it through several interviews and was in the top running for positions. Each time he narrowly missed out on getting hired. It was a very upsetting process for us both, and we just couldn't figure out why God wasn't opening doors. It was during this time that Brandon started dropping little hints here and there about wanting to join the military. At first all I would say is "NO" and "NO" again! Not for me thank you very much! Yet as I prayed constantly about out future I kept coming up with nothing and feeling so hopeless. Until one day I finally told Brandon to talk to a recruiter and we would see what was said. At that point Brandon still was applying for jobs around Kansas. As he started looking into options I changed my prayers to a more broad "what do you want for us?" as opposed to "PLEASE let him get a job." Ironically it was the NO option that kept creeping into my thoughts...ok so I am now starting to ramble so to make a long story short I will just say that after saying yes to the military, it was so ironic the the job Brandon was assigned, was to be a fireman. God answered our prayers in a way that we never expected. So that brings us to our current home in San Angelo Texas. The Fire Academy has been very demanding for Brandon and in turn hard on me because it leaves very little time for us to just hang out. However we know it will all be worth it in the end, and two long time dreams of Brandon's are being achieved! The Academy is broken up into 6 blocks, and he just completed his 4th block!!! Unfortunately the fire academy wont allow me to come observe and take pictures of the training, however one of Brandon's classmates has been allowed to take pictures, and he has been kind enough to post some on Facebook...where I in turn have stole them to add to my blog to show you all a little taste of Brandon's life the past couple months!

The whole class in some of their bunker gear...and them in their banana suits!
