On the second and final day of Phil's visit we decided to head to Cambridge and Warwick castle. We went to Cambridge first, and since we were on a pretty tight schedule we only spent a couple hours there and visited the college, and walked though the open market ares.
Warwick is one of the more popular and larger castles in the area! There were actors playing parts of people who would have lived and worked in the castle back in the days! Although at times it made it a bit corny and hokey...but it was still pretty neat, and Phil enjoyed talking to the actors, he even got into a conversation with one of the royalty about "buying" one of her ladies in waiting as a wife! Oui Vay :) We got there less than 2 hours before the park closed so we got to see almost everything but we missed out on going down to the river and seeing the mill. Oh well we enjoyed what we saw.
The above pictures are just a few shots from outside the castle or from the top of some of the towers. I am not afraid of heights, actually I really like them, but getting to the top of the towers sucked! You went up these narrow, steep, spiral steps, I was dizzy by the time I got to the top! All I can say is anyone afraid of heights might not want to go up the towers...or anyone who can't climb multiple flights of stairs.
It was so great to have family here visiting and be able to show someone where we live now and the things we get to do!
So just a couple side notes on the pictures of us above here...first notice the clothing between day 1 and day 2. Day one I am wearing a tank top and sun glasses, and day two a heavy fleece jacket and shoes! Talk about quick weather changes. Now keep in mind I am from Kansas a state known for having crazy weather that can change on a dime...and even I was surprised at the quick weather turn around. My second footnote is about the last picture posted of all 3 of us. You can't tell from the distance of the shot, but my smile is extremely TENSE! My well meaning father in-law when I mentioned wanting a shot of all of us found someone to take it...but there was a slight (ok not slight HUGE) problem with his choice of picture taker. He could have waited for a parent or older sight seerer, but no not Phil he grabs a kid about 9-10 years old who starts giggling when handed my awesome camera with telephoto lens! Now if you know me at all you know that my camera is my baby and I take extremely good care of it! That moment has become quite the joke of the trip, I guess I gave Phil and not so nice look, and had a look of panic as he grabbed our little photographer :) At least all ended well and my camera survived Phil's visit in one piece!!!!!
